Big changes are coming to Northcote. The Auckland Urban Development Office, part of Auckland Council, is reimagining the town centre – creating a more vibrant, sustainable, and people-focused hub for the growing local community.
A wave of exciting projects kick off in 2026, starting with upgraded public facilities over two years, followed by the staged retransformation of the shopping area over ten years.
Here’s what’s on the way:
- A new community hub and upgraded Puāwai Cadness Reserve
- Te Ara Awataha completed with a new town centre section
- New shops, eateries, and offices
- Modern apartments and laneways
- A welcoming new town square
